Vicky Jones

Vicky studied at the Royal Academy of Music and then the Royal Northern College of Music, doing undergrad and postgrad qualifications on oboe and cor anglais. Since then, alongside some playing work, she has since worked at the RNCM, working with professional ensemble partners and facilitating professional experiences for students. This was providing an additional aspect to selected students to rehearse and perform alongside these ensembles, both in the UK and abroad.
Vicky’s playing work has seen her playing with a wide variety of ensembles, including the London Sinfonietta and City of London Sinfonia, performing concertos with the RNCM New Ensemble, North Yorkshire Schools Symphony Orchestra, and the Junior RNCM Concert Orchestra. Other playing highlights include being a member of the National Youth Orchestra, performing in various chamber ensembles with acclaim at a chamber music festival in Belgium, and successfully achieving various scholarships through her time studying.
Going further back, Vicky recorded a CD at 17 with a vocal trio – which you would have to be privileged to hear now! Prior to working at the RNCM, Vicky combined playing work alongside running events at a local venue, This included all sorts of events so created a wide variety of experiences, and meeting lots of different people within the arts world, including music, literature, visual art, and much more. Still based in Manchester, Vicky now combines her work with Polyphony Arts with walks around and about, and makes regular trips back to her home county of Yorkshire on the other side of the Pennines.
